Coach Des, We just want to say thank you. This was Luc’s first year attending one of your camps. He attended the Private Lesson Camp at Shattuck in June. It was amazing to see the difference and growth as a goalie from the first night to the last day. You and your staff are wonderful, encouraging, and truly want to see the goalies learn and grow each time on and off the ice, which we saw in him throughout the week. Luc has continued to work hard, and we are looking forward to another great travel season from him. Luc is already wanting to come back and can’t wait till next year!!! Again Thank You to you and your staff!!!
Thanks to Coach Des and his staff for a great week in Rapid City. I learned new things and was pushed to improve on movementd that I already knew. Coach Des is awesome to work with and hope to go again next summer. Thanks
Hello TGC Staff, Thank you much for all of your help over the past couple of season! You have help me become very comfortable in the goalie position. I have learned thing that have helped me be successful. Three weeks after attending the Mankato camp my Storm AAA team competed in the Combat Cup. Our team went 5-0 on our way to winning the Championship. I had a GAA of 1 on the weekend. I so posted a shut out. This is proof that TGC can help you get the best best out of your self.
Coach, Thank you so much for coming out to Missoula and especially for your patience with us more aged beer league guys. I had a blast. Hockey is going really well and everyone is noticing the changes in my game. I'm making a point of skating those circles every time I hit the ice; they're a great warm up. Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to the spring clinic.
Hi Coach Des! I just wanted to share a pic with you of Kieran. It was from this past weekend in Rapid City at a first-year Squirt level hockey tournament. The Oahe Capitals won the tournament by winning all 4 games. Kieran goalied 2 of the 4 games, including the championship game (where this pic was taken.) The Capitals scored 26 goals total against all of their opponents and only allowed 9 goals total in all 4 games; of those 9 goals, 2 were in Kier's first game goalieing and 3 in his last game goalieing (the championship game.) Most importantly, he's becoming more confident, more relaxed, is relying on his technique more instinctively, and is falling in love with goalieing again. 🙂 Just wanted to share the good news with you and your staff! Everyone's hard work in your summer camp is manifesting itself. 🙂 Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving!
I thought I should let you know about the Mite games at New Ulm last Saturday. Two games at the same time, cross ice. New Ulm split their Mites A (good) and B (not so good) while Mankato just fielded two teams without considering ability. Wyatt played goalie and drew New Ulm A. He was absolutely peppered by shots, yet his team won 5-4 (the other game was 11-0 Mankato). Wyatt clearly was the difference in the game and I have had several Mankato and New Ulm coaches and parents tell me how well he played. Wyatt was "mobbed" by his teammates after the game. No shots went under Wyatt's pads or through him. For the most part, he played with his pads on the ice and seems to have retained what you and the other coaches have been teaching him. If you have the chance, you may want to forward this message to Grant as I thought the 2 lessons he had with him were very helpful. Thanks, Des.
Mikko 8 games since the holiday camp: .934 sv% .875 GAA. 4 shutouts. 1 SO win. 2 tournament 'chips. The SO today allowed only 1 goal in 7 shooters...totally awesome game!!! She goes for it! She's playing well right now, finally hitting her stride after the concussion. Camp helped tremendously! Thanks Des!
Thank you very much for all you do. I have to tell you that your camps are beyond compare. The organization, energy and enthusiasm you personally show as well as your staff for hockey and goal tending in particular I have not seen by any type of hockey camp owner. I was very pleased with watching my son grow as a goaltender over the course of 5 days. It was very refreshing to see your staff take the time to explain, correct and encourage each student as they went thru their stations and the time you personally took with each student had such a positive effect on their performance overall. Again I really appreciate all you and your staff do. Please give your staff a that-a-boy(girl) from us. Have a great fall and upcoming season.
Hi Coach Des, I hope all is well. Anthony really enjoyed the camp this summer. Thanks again to you and your team for providing him with a great experience at the camp.
Just wanted you guys to know that Zach looked great at his first tournament after the TGC camp. He went 12 consecutive periods of shut out hockey including 70 saves in a row. Total of 4 goals allowed in 5 games. I thought you guys would appreciate this. 🙂 I should also mention that he was selected as one of the top 10 goalies in the state for an invite only tournament aimed at the top 2nd year Peewees. Should be a fun little tournament to watch and see how he stacks up against the best. It's all the work you've done with Z-Man over the years that has made him the goalie he is today. I certainly can't help him and as you guys know most coaches don't know how to develop their goalies. Looking forward to another great season and watching him continue to evolve with your help. I love watching him play!
Hey Coach Des, Thanks for the great camp experience last week. Tim absolutely loved it and was bummed that it went by so fast. He was extremely happy with everything. I wanted to check with you to see if you will be having small group skills training this fall at SSM other days than Sunday. Thanks again
Hi Des!, This is Katie. I Hope all is well. I wanted to let you know what a great experience I had at your camps this summer. Both my sister and brother and myself are so glad we had the opportunity to participate! Your drills and approach to training really helped us each week and I could see improvement on a lot of my own different skills. Also, both my brother and sister and I would be interested in being shooters for any other sessions coming up in the near future or even something a little later. Thanks for everything,
Dear Des, I know that Charlie had a great time at camp and learned so much. He is determined to make a crickleball bat out of his current goalie stick! Let us know when you have the dates for next year's camp, we would love to continue with TGC. Thanks again,
Hi, Des Thanks to you and the other TGC coaches for all the work you have done with Wyatt. He has clearly benefitted from your coaching and you and your coaches are certainly top-notch. My only hope is you hang in there until Wyatt gets through high school. Wyatt looks good and our plans are to start attending the MAHA goalie sessions beginning this Sunday. See you soon!
Hey Des! Thanks for the message! Tyler thought it was so cool! He was in the Chisago Lakes tourney this weekend and his team won the Championship! Tyler had three shut-outs in a row, which helped him win Outstanding Goalie of the tournament! Thanks for being great coaches and we will be at the Holiday Camp!!
When I first came to Shattuck I wasn't sure what to expect in working with a new goalie coach. Almost a year later I can tell you that working with Coach Des has been better than I could ever have imagined. Coach Des is an incredible teacher who makes certain that all aspects of my game are sharp and that I am always ready to compete. He has tremendous knowledge, is extremely supportive and always willing to give of his time. If you have a chance to work with Coach Des you should absolutely take advantage of it. Thank you Coach Des for making sure that I am always playing at the top of my game!
Just wanted to say "thank you" to you and your staff for the goalie session today. Cam really enjoyed it and learned "a ton", in his words. Thank you for offering this service- we hope to find some other opportunities to get over that way and take advantage further.
This is just a short email to thank you for organizing the visits of The Goalie Club to Missoula. Thank you! It was an awesome kick in the breezers and a lot of fun. The coaches were absolutely outstanding and I learned a tremendous amount even though I was the old guy slowing everyone down. Those kids have so much energy but they probably don’t realize how lucky they are to be doing this at a young age.
We were really impressed with the difference that the Goalie Club camp made in JP's play. He came back home looking like he really knew what he was doing. I look forward to bringing him up there for more coaching throughout the year. A couple of weeks ago, JP played goal in a youth stick time at a local rink here in Atlanta. There was one Div I and several NAHL and NA3HL players on the rink. JP looked good and still made some good plays. I know that I am probably just a proud dad talking, but for having just started ice goalie in April, I think he looks pretty good. I am sure that over the years you will make him look better.
I would like to let you know that we have been very pleased with the stories Eric tells us from camp. He tells us how you tell them about how important it is to be careful what they put on social media, how they dress, and how doing things like chewing tobacco can effect their future. It is hard sometimes raising respectful, good kids in today's society and they only listen to their parents to a certain degree but cling to every word a coach tells them. We appreciate not only you teaching our son good goalie skills but we really appreciate that you teach him in these other important areas of life that will help him way beyond hockey! Thanks again for all you do!
